Boroujerd handmade carpet is a manifestation of art and creativity
Today, carpet weaving has become the most widespread handicraft in Iran; As it is well known abroad, comparing handmade carpets with machine-made carpets is like comparing living and inanimate beings, and those who look at this art with emotion see the soul in this original art.
Boroujerd handmade carpets today have a special reputation and prestige due to their color, variety and various patterns. Boroujerd carpets are mainly one to two pieces that have a very strong texture. The designs of Boroujerd carpet are slightly different from Lori carpet and are more similar to Nahavand, Malayer and Hamedan carpets.
Boroujerd carpet is woven entirely with local wool and natural color and has a high quality, and therefore this carpet with a special place in global and international markets can make Boroujerd one of the local, national and international carpet trade centers.
One of the weavers of Boroujerd said in this regard: I have been interested in the art of carpet weaving since I was a child and I used to sit behind the carpet with my mother and sister.
Leila Arab added: The art of carpet weaving is an original and rooted art in Iran, especially in the city of Boroujerd, and this art should be revived and dynamic more than before.
Another weaver stated: Carpet weaving has a special place as a profession along with cultural and artistic values.
Zahra Soleimani continued: The art of carpet weaving is one of the valuable industries in Boroujerd, which has long been used as an essential commodity in Boroujerdi families.
A carpet expert said: Boroujerd has been considered by travelers and tourists for a long time due to its special geographical location, abundant orchards and cultivation of saffron.
Mohammad Kiani added: Agriculture and animal husbandry are the main professions of the villagers and carpet weaving is an auxiliary economic industry and all the stages of sheep breeding, porcelain wool, spinning, dyeing, weaving and even polishing and other complementary operations were usually done by the villagers themselves.
He stated that the surplus of produced carpets was bought by the bazaars by sending them to the city and was usually exported, adding: Based on documents and historical findings, a 150-year history can be considered for Boroujerd carpets.
The carpet expert stated: Historical documents also show that during the activity of Ziegler Company in Sultanabad, Arak and due to its proximity to Boroujerd, that city was the center of production and export of vegetable dyes, and therefore a number of the company’s projects in Boroujerd called Ziegleria’s design was woven into the role of a company.
Kiani continued by stating that in the division of Iranian handmade carpets, Boroujerd carpet is known as a rustic style: The structural components and features of Boroujerd carpet can be counted as bergamot, elastic, border, pattern, shape, color, texture and size of the carpet.
He pointed out: Five major areas of carpet weaving can be identified in the city of Boroujerd, which include Ashtrinan, Goodarzi district, northwestern villages, northeastern villages and Silakhor plain.
This carpet expert stated: Ashtrinan is one of the most important and prosperous parts of Boroujerd carpet weaving, which is located in the northwestern part of the city.
Mohammad Kiani added: Among the prosperous designs of Ashtrinan, we can mention the designs of sycamore, crown of fish, Sheikh Ghorbani and fish design with semicircular and geometric flexibility. 20 to 40 textured beds and a poo are the characteristics of the texture of Ashtrinan carpet, he said: The vegetable dyeing of Ashtrinan carpet is done in such a way that the produced kohl is one of the most beautiful and best colors available in Boroujerd.
The carpet expert added: Ashtrinan usually uses natural materials such as walnut skin, hair leaves, rosewood, spruce, indigo and colored flowers for dyeing.
Kiani stated: Due to the existence of three main colors, yellow, red, and blue, and their combination, various color spectrums are produced, which has caused a variety of colors in Ashtrinan weaves.
He stated that Ashtrinan’s plans include Chenar plan, Sheikh Ghorbani plan and Taj Mahi plan, and specified: In Ashtrinan region, there is a plan called integration, which is created from the combination of the mentioned plans, and this region, with proper marketing and accuracy in The tastes and needs of consumers have a more prosperous market than other regions.
The expert continued: one and a half inches, two inches, sides, middle 5 × 1, 5 × 2, head 4 × 1 in this area, usually due to lack of proper measurement by weavers, carpets are not woven according to the standard sizes of the country.
Kiani stated: Goodarzi village includes the villages of Chaharbareh, Malmijan, Ghaed Taher, Kafshgaran, Karkikhan, Sheikh Miri, Khashtianak, Tudehzan, Golchehran, Nabi Abad, Jojeh Haidar, Vanai, Darreh Zireh, Shab Mah and …
He pointed out: Goodarzi village is one of the other famous and prosperous areas of carpet weaving in Boroujerd and has various designs such as samovar, Homa, Alamdar, Malichei (eagle), Haj Sardari, Mina Khanum (Chaharbareh village) which due to the beauty and quality of the designs and textures. The weaving pattern of other regions is located in Boroujerd.
He added: The texture characteristics of Goodarzi village include Turkish knot, medium thickness and weight, medium villi length, number between 20 to 40, bed weaving, one weft and with vegetable dye.
Kiani stated that the spinning and dyeing of wool and cotton is done by the people of this region and the surplus is sent to other regions, adding: Farshbaf villages northwest of Boroujerd, including Deh Turkan, Darreh Gorg, Bayatan Olya and Sofla, Gol Zard, Liqanab, Darreh It is hot, the upper and lower pavilions are Gandal Gilan, Gijali, Janbalagh, Chapdar, Merv and Gheshlagh.
He stated: The villages of the northwest have good and beautiful weaves, but rather than being creative in carpet weaving, they have taken the maps of villages and other areas and with a few changes, applied their local characteristics and weaving methods in them and Due to the same changes, they are known as this village.
The carpet expert stated: The northwestern villages of Boroujerd have been affected by carpet weaving in this area due to their proximity to Malayer city.
He pointed out: the villages northeast of Boroujerd include the villages of Darreh Seidi, Dehgah, Bichun, Dudangeh, Kabutrollan, Keshteh Bagh, Hezar Jerib and Mirza Ali Castle.
Kiani continued: These villages are less popular in carpet weaving than the aforementioned areas, and the quality of weaves is at a lower level than other areas.
He said: Northeastern villages, due to their proximity to Sarband plain and Malmir villages, usually weave the pattern of the bush, and it is the quality of the texture that determines the type of villages.
The carpet expert stated: The best design of the bush belongs to the villages of one thousand acres, the old type of which was woven in the form of three wefts – two thin wefts and a thick weft between them.
Kiani added: The villages of Jubdar Alia and Sefli, Kushan, Zavarijan, Mohsen Bin Ali corner, Dokhaharan, Baghchal and Zarrinkhani ridge are located in Silakhor plain.
He specified: In most of these villages of Boroujerd, carpets are usually made of cotton and wool (warp and weft of cotton and fleece of wool), but in Silakhor plain due to its alignment with the city of Khorramabad and more contact with the nomadic community, woolen yarn and nomadic weaving techniques Can be seen.
The carpet expert continued: Silakhor plain is adjacent to Chal Goodarzi from the west and due to its proximity, it has been influenced by its western neighbor in terms of design and role, but it has been influenced by the nomadic community of the province in terms of weaving techniques and consumables.
Mohammad Kiani stated: Persian knot, thickness and weight of medium length of long pile, number 20 to 40, half roll, two wefts, cotton taropod (sometimes woolen thread is used), woolen pile, Persian and plant dyeing are the characteristics of the texture of this region.
