Deputy of Traditional Arts and Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of South Khorasan said: Jajim weaving is produced in all villages of Ghainat.

Amir Anvari ق Moghaddam named the important centers of Jajim texture in the province as Hosseinabad Khosf village, Darah and Lano villages of Sarbisheh city and in the suburbs of Roman, Islamabad, Ouj Nik, Tigdar, Bihood villages and to some extent all the villages of the city and Fadeshk, Barak and Soltani villages of Birjand.

He added: Jajim, which is called Jajim in the local term, is one of the special arts of Kurdish and Turkish regions that is woven in most parts of the country today.

Deputy Minister of Traditional Arts and Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of South Khorasan said: In South Khorasan, residents of rural areas of Birjand, Nehbandan, Sarbisheh and especially Ghainat try to weave this product.

Anwari Moghaddam stated that Jajim is a hand-woven fabric similar to plush and kilim with striped patterns, which is used as an underlay like other hand-woven ones. In some cases, yarn is also used to weave it.

He pointed to the use of Jajim in the form of chair quilts, rugs, bread tablecloths, pillows, rugs, various types of women’s bags, cushions, slippers and added: In this province, the texture of designs with patterns and simple has been common for a long time and patterned designs are several types It can be mentioned as full flower, half flower, simple half, belt, mouse tooth and round edge.

The Deputy Minister of Traditional Arts and Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of South Khorasan, referring to the texture of Jajim, continued: Work of at least 3 people to monitor the spinning, twisting (herding) of yarn (dome), the third or fourth and fifth person to remove the balls of yarn with a special color around the nails are present.

He stated: After spinning, weaving operations consisting of raising and lowering specific threads in each stage of weaving and then tapping the tail has been created.

Anwari Moghaddam added: In traditional horizontal poles, the entire length of Jajim, which is about 8 to 12 meters, is woven at once and there is no need to gather and wrap it around the rolling mill, and the weaving is done in open environments with a sufficient area.

He reminded: Jajim’s role is striped in color and the colors green, yellow, red, white and purple are more visible in it than other colors.
