Referring to the Saveh Agricultural Jihad program regarding the improvement of the cultivation pattern in the city, he said: Considering that there was a history of cultivating barberry rootstocks in Ghargabad and Nobaran areas as hedges, so the development of cultivation of this crop was on the agenda.

According to him, barberry product has a relative resistance to water shortage and even soil salinity, therefore, we tried to import a thousand barberry stalks to the city from Ghaen city of South Khorasan province on a trial and promotional basis.

Referring to the beginning of cultivation of this crop in March of last year in Ghargabad and Nobaran regions and a limited part of the central part of Saveh, he added: Cultivation of crops will be resistant to water shortage and soil salinity.

This expert of Saveh Agricultural Jihad, pointing out that the yield of this product will start from the third year and will reach the economic stage from the fifth year, added: the yield of this product is four to six tons per hectare and depending on the type of harvest, two tons of dry harvest It becomes.

He added that the barberry product is divided into two parts: puff pastry and pomegranate seeds: The average dry selling price per kilo of barberry is 15 to 20 thousand tomans.

According to Arbab, resistance to pests and diseases is another advantage of barberry cultivation that can be developed by implementing drip irrigation, garden nutrition, extension courses and pruning and barberry production in the city.
