10% increase in grape harvest from Khatam vineyards
The director of horticulture affairs of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi of Yazd province announced a 10% increase in grape harvest from the orchards of Khatam city.
Yadollah Javadpour, referring to the 929 hectare area of Khatam vineyards as the largest producer of grapes in the province, said: This year, about 22 thousand and 947 tons of grapes have been produced in this city, which has increased by 10% compared to last year.
He stated that 30% of the grapes produced by Khatam are offered fresh to the market of the province and the country, adding: 70% of the harvested grapes will be sent to the market after processing.
The director of horticulture affairs of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi province said about the grape cultivars produced in Khatam city: the most important grape cultivars of the city include Khalili, Kishmi, Asgari and Rish Baba.
Javadpour, stating that Khatam grape is one of the early products compared to other parts of the country, said: Fortunately, the city’s grape products are of acceptable quality.
It is worth mentioning that Khatam city is located 245 km south of the center of Yazd province.
