10% increase in grape production in Abarkooh
The director of Abarkooh Agricultural Jihad,
referring to the end of grape harvest from 260 hectares of vineyards in the city in the current crop year, said:
3,500 tons of crop was harvested, which is an increase of 10% compared to the previous year.
Mehdi Gheibolahi, stating that the vineyard is less water-loving than other fruit trees, said:
The reason for the increase in production is the increase in the area under fertile vineyards.
He said that the average production per hectare is 12 tons and said:
In some orchards, this number reaches 15 tons per unit area that the product is sent to the consumer market of neighboring cities in addition to consumption in the region.
The head of Jihad Keshavarzi of Abarkooh city added:
the highest level of cultivation of vineyards in this city is located in Faragheh region.
Referring to the variety of grapes produced in Yazd province, the official said:
Grape production varieties include Rish Baba, Mesghali, Askari and Shahani.
Ghayb Elahi stated:
Due to the water shortage crisis and the sharp drop in groundwater levels and the continuation of the problem of drought,
farmers are recommended to use the new irrigation method to make more use and efficiency of water in vineyards.

15,000 hectares of Abarkooh lands are dedicated to cultivating agricultural products and more
than 190,000 tons of products are harvested annually and this city is one of the major agricultural areas of Yazd province.
