He pointed to the decline in pistachio production in 2005 and said: Late cold damage in early spring, which damaged a large area of ​​pistachio orchards in Kerman province is the main reason for this decline in production.

Meanwhile, the insurance level of pistachios has increased from 1550 hectares in 1379 to 46 thousand hectares.

Gheibi further pointed out: The area under pistachio cultivation in 1372 was 275 thousand hectares, which increased to 428 thousand hectares in 1383 and the amount of production has increased from 230 thousand tons in 1372 to 182 thousand tons in 1383. . »

He added: The amount of pistachio exports in 1372 was 117 thousand tons, which in 1383 this figure reached 129 thousand tons. Also, the value of exports in 1372 was 435 million dollars, which reached 533 million dollars in 1383.

Referring to the average yield of pistachio production in the country, the director general of the Pistachio Office of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture said: Exports account for 53.5 percent of fertile arable land and 47 percent of world production.

Referring to the provinces of Kerman, Yazd, Khorasan, Semnan, Qom, Qazvin, Fars, Isfahan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Markazi as pistachio-producing provinces, he said: Pistachio 70% of the export value of horticultural products, 58% of the export value of agricultural products and more than 14 It accounts for the percentage of the value of the country’s non-oil exports.

Gheibi further acknowledged: The per capita consumption of pistachios in Iran is 500 grams per year, which, taking into account the approximate population of the country, the total consumption is 35,000 tons.

Referring to the planned plans and programs to reduce waste, Gheibi said: Development of pistachio orchard insurance and implementation of HACCP pistachio plan with the aim of improving health standards of production and reducing waste in the stages of harvesting, collecting and processing pistachios and also preparing and approving the plan. Management and maintenance of pistachio orchards with the aim of improving and rehabilitating 285,000 hectares of fertile orchards in the country during 10 years is one of the programs of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture.

He continued: With the implementation of this plan, while creating an additional production of 180,000 tons, crop waste will be controlled and reduced during the planting stage.
