15% increase in onion cultivation in Iranshahr
The director of Iranshahr Agricultural Jihad said: onion planting in Iranshahr has increased by 15% this year.
Majid Fayazi last night in the agricultural council of the city added: the cultivation of onion seedlings in 350 hectares of agricultural lands of this city has started and will continue until mid-January.
Majid Fayyazi, stating that an average of 50 to 60 tons of onions are harvested from each hectare, predicted: more than 20,000 tons of crops will be harvested from this area under cultivation.
He added: The climatic conditions of this region have caused less pesticides to be used for onion production, and for this reason, the products produced are of high quality.
The director of Iranshahr Agricultural Jihad said: In addition to being supplied in the markets of Sistan and Baluchestan, the onions produced in Iranshahr will be transported to the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan, Tehran, Isfahan and Fars.
About a thousand people are working in planting, holding and harvesting onions in Iranshahr.
Harvesting of this product starts from the end of March and continues until May.
