$ 164 million worth of raisins were exported
Darab Hassani, referring to the latest statistics of the International Grape Organization and its products in 2018, said:
Grape production occupies 7.4 million hectares of arable land in the world,
which Iran’s share of the total area under grape cultivation in the world is over 308 thousand hectares.
He continued:
out of the cultivated area of 308 thousand hectares of grapes in our country,
289 thousand hectares are fertile and more than 19 thousand hectares are infertile.
Also, 75% of the country’s vineyards are irrigated and 25% are rainfed.
The Director General of the Office of Cold and Dried Fruits, added:
The evaluation of grape production in the world shows an increase in production
from 74.3 million tons in 2014 to 77.8 million tons in 2018 and production in 2018 compared to 2017 has grown by 6.5 percent .
He added:
China with 11.7 million tons of production, Italy with 8.6 million tons and the United States with 6.9 million tons of production,
ranked first to third in grape production.
Hassani stated:
The most important product of raisins is grapes and its production in the world is more than 1.3 million tons in 2018.
He reminded:
Among the major countries producing raisins in 2018,
Iran with an average production of 200,000 tons and exports of more than 120,000 tons is ranked third in production and exports after
Turkey and the United States.
Director General of the Office of Cold and Dried Fruits on the exchange rate of raisins, added:
Raisin exports with a currency of 164 million dollars in 1398 has a significant share of agricultural exports;
This amount has increased by about 6% compared to 1397.
Referring to the naming of this year by the Supreme Leader as a production leap, he said:
The potential for increasing raisin exports to 150,000 tons is predicted for this year.
Pointing out that the amount of grape production in the country is about three million tons,
Hassani pointed to the main production cultivars and added:
the predominant grape cultivars in the country are seedless white and red (about 80 to 90%) with fresh consumption; Of course,
changing the cultivars to desktop cultivars with high shelf life in the cold storage through grape branching is a priority.

Zanjan and Markazi provinces are the top producers of grapes in the country, respectively.
Hassani stated that the area under cultivation and production of grapes in the country has a high position in the world, said:
Our country is far from the ideal and ideal in terms of yield per unit area and quality of products produced in some areas.
He said that the cost of producing each kilogram of grapes was high due to the traditional methods of planting,
holding, harvesting and post-harvest, and said:
This will reduce economic efficiency and deprive producers of competitiveness.
Hassani continued:
Low yield, high waste and high cost are affected by various factors, the most important of which is the type of plant training system.
Director General of the Office of Cold and Dried Fruits, referring to the implementation of the Faraz project, said:
In this project, the development of grapes is done by scaffolding and the purpose
of the Faraz project is to reduce labor costs due to the possibility of using machinery and increasing performance compared to the traditional system.
He mentioned the other benefits of the Faraz project as the possibility of dealing with damage caused by cold and hail and bird attack and reminded:
the efficiency of this system in penetrating light and preventing pollution caused by fruit contact with the soil increases
the quality and quantity of crop production. It becomes.
