The head of the East Azerbaijan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization announced a 170 percent increase in grape production in the province.

Quoting the public relations of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province, Massoud Mohammadian added: Lands, talent, agricultural development facilities and relative density of the population of East Azerbaijan are more than most provinces, its villages and agricultural lands are more prosperous than other parts of the country.

He said that one of the most important products of the province is grapes, adding: Grapes have more than one fifth of the total area of ​​orchards and one third of the production of horticultural products in the province, and in terms of production after apples, the second It is the main product of the province.

Mohammadian continued: Iran produces 4.5% of the world’s grapes and its rank in the production of this product is the seventh in the world.

He added: Grape production this year has increased significantly by 170% compared to last year, and according to forecasts, the export of raisins abroad is worth more than $ 180 million this year.

He stated that the export value of raisins in the province’s outlets last year was $ 120 million with 50% of the total value of the province’s agricultural products.

Mohammadian added: The amount of grape production in East Azerbaijan last year was 141 thousand tons, which increased by 170% to 383 thousand tons this year. The value of this product has grown significantly in the province.

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province, noting that the consumer markets of European countries, Central Asia and Russia mostly prefer sharp raisins and California raisins are often exported to the markets of the Persian Gulf countries, added: The current prices of these products are 45,000 rials and 30,000 respectively Rials.
