20% increase in pistachio harvest in Mehriz Yazd

Director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Mehriz city, referring to the beginning of pistachio farmers in this city to harvest, said: This year, due to good rainfall conditions, we are witnessing a more than 20% increase in pistachio production in Mehriz.

While announcing this news, Mohammad Jafari stated: Mehriz city is one of the pistachio production hubs of Yazd province with more than eight thousand hectares under pistachio cultivation, of which six thousand hectares are fertile.

According to him, an average of 1.5 tons of dried pistachios is harvested from each hectare of Mehriz pistachio orchards.

The director of Mehriz Agricultural Jihad, stating that 80% of Mehriz pistachios produced are sent to foreign markets, pointed out the most important commercial cultivars of this product in Mehriz city: Ouhadi, Ahmad Aghaei, Koleghoochi and Akbari.

He reminded: At present, about four thousand farmers are active in the field of pistachio cultivation and harvest in this city.

Citing the public relations of Mehriz Jihad-e-Keshavarzi, Jafari pointed out in the end: 72 units with exploitation files in Mehriz city are active in the field of pistachio recording and processing.
