2155 hectares of garden lands in the middle of the barberry crop

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Darmian said:
the barberry crop has allocated 2 thousand and 155 hectares of garden lands in Darmian city, of which 1,513 hectares
are fertile and the rest are infertile.
Gholamreza Varasteh added:
Barberry is one of the strategic and main products of Darmian city, which in 2009 was about 3,000 tons of barberry,
which in 1389 due to floods and hail has decreased to 2,700 tons.
Referring to the price of barberry, Varasteh said:
In 2009, at the same time, the price of barberry was 4,000 tomans, and we hope to see the price of barberry grow this year.
He continued:
The income from the barberry product, taking into account these prices, is equal to 120 billion Rials in 2009 and 189 billion Rials in 2010.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Darmian stated:
The highest production of barberry among the villages of the city is in Noghab village of the central part.
Referring to the export of barberry, he added:
The export of this product has been mostly to the countries of the Persian Gulf, North America and Europe,
which is often done as a souvenir and luggage.
He stated that the insured area under cultivation of this crop in 2009 was 3.5 hectares, he said:
In 1389 this crop has increased to 7.19 hectares and we hope according to the advertisements done this year Reach over 100 hectares.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Darmian, referring to the formation of barberry farmers’ cooperatives in this city, stated:
This cooperative will have the necessary support from barberry farmers through collective and guaranteed purchases and also the possibility
of selling directly to other provinces or in the future abroad.
Varasteh announced the construction of two barberry processing factories in Birjand and Ghaen cities and added:
This factory is working in Ghaen city and we hope that a barberry processing factory will be set up in this city by investors
in the city in the near future.
