Exports of Iranian handmade carpets in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year has a growing trend.
The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran announced this news: According to the customs statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the first quarter of this year, nearly one thousand tons of handmade carpets worth more than $ 57 million were exported from the country, which is 23% more than Similar shows last year.
Referring to the decline in carpet exports last year, Kargar added: Unfortunately, in the past two years, we have witnessed a decline in handmade carpet exports, so that at the end of 1392, with $ 314 million in carpet exports, we experienced the lowest exports in recent years, but Export statistics this year raise hopes for a resurgence in the art-industry’s exports.
Regarding the reasons for the decrease in carpet exports in previous years, he said: the embargo on the import of Iranian carpets to the United States, the increase in export costs as a result of the general embargo on Iran, political unrest in some Arab countries, increase and expansion of substitute and complementary goods and non-compliance And market tastes have been one of the factors behind the decline in carpet exports in recent years.
Kargar continued: Of course, some internal factors, such as reducing the number of workers for reasons such as benefiting from direct subsidies to carpet weavers instead of providing facilities to producers, as well as domestic inflation have also affected this process.
In recent years, the head of the National Carpet Center of Iran has experienced a sharp decline in the weight of Iran’s exports, which in recent months we see the cessation of this rapid trend and the improvement of export statistics in terms of weight.
He expressed hope that the stability and relative improvement in the country’s political situation would also help increase Iran’s exports of handmade carpets.
