Mehrzad Kherad added: Fars province is the first producer of dried figs in Iran and although countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Spain and Portugal also have a significant area of cultivation and production, but the dried figs of Iran, especially Estahban, are unique in terms of quality. It is unique in the world.
He stated that Fars province has the first rank in fig production in the country, he said: Last year’s good rainfall has a very good effect on the production of this product as it is predicted that the production of Fars province from 21 thousand tons last year to 23 Thousands increase this year.
Kherad reminded: Also in Estahban city in 1390, the amount of fig production was 12 thousand tons, which is expected to reach 14 thousand tons this year.
The head of the Fars Agricultural Jihad Organization called Estahban the first producer of dried figs in Iran and added: There are more than 2.2 million fig trees in Estahban, and most of the people of this city directly and indirectly engage in activities such as preserving and Maintenance of rainfed fig orchards and side activities.
The official emphasized: in Estahban, Neyriz and other parts of the province, no chemical fertilizers or toxins are used, which means that these figs are organic.
Kherad corrected: so far, organic certificates have been issued for 400 hectares of these fig orchards by the Dutch company Control Unin, and the follow-up for obtaining certificates for the rest continues.
In another part of his speech, the head of Fars Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization referred to the issue of fig processing and said: Currently, 9 fig processing units are operating under the auspices of Fars Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization, which have an annual capacity of at least 22 thousand and 850 tons of figs. They were able to create permanent employment for 194 people and seasonal employment for 970 people.
Kherad continued: Currently, the main fig processing units in the packaging of this product in the form of dried figs and wet figs indicate that the main products are exported to Vietnam, China, Germany, UAE, Romania, Hong Kong and South Korea. .
He reminded: Last year, the export of figs under the auspices of Fars Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization was 3180 tons worth $ 17 million.
