250 tons of dates were harvested from Taroud groves

Ali Asghar Haji said: Shahroud city has a variety of agricultural products, including dates, due to the diversity of climate and cultivation capacity.

He said: Taroud village is one of the functions of the central part of Shahroud city, which is a warm area that can produce dates.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Shahroud city added: the area under date cultivation in Taroud region was 113 hectares, of which 63 hectares are fertile and 50 hectares are infertile (seedlings).

Haji said: the date harvesting operation has started from the beginning of September from 63 hectares of groves in the production area and will continue until the middle of October.

Referring to the most important cultivars of dates produced in Taroud region, he said: Kabkab, Zahedi, Shahani, Shahabi, Mazafati, Barhi, Majul and local are the most important cultivars of dates cultivated in this region.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Shahroud city said: the produced dates are consumed in Semnan province and neighboring provinces.

He added: palm cultivation, development of orchards by planting tissue culture seedlings, development of new commercial cultivars such as Pyaram, Majul dates and also pest control are the most important factors in date production.
