30% drop in the quality of Mahshahr dates

The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad Office said: This year, due to the problems that existed in the discussion of water supply for palm trees, about 30% of the first grade dates in the city have faced a decrease in quality and second grade dates.
Hamidreza Rashidi, referring to the beginning of the date harvest in this city, stated: The date harvest has started in Mahshahr for the past few days and will continue until about October 6th.
He added: The area under cultivation of Mahshahr palm trees is about 2,000 hectares, which unfortunately, this year, due to the lack of water supply, these palm trees suffered serious damage.
The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad Office stated: in order for date palms to function properly, they must be irrigated at least 7 times in each period, but this year only three times water was supplied to the city palm trees, and this caused problems in quantitative and qualitative discussions. .
Rashidi continued: This year, considering the conditions created in the discussion of not supplying the water needed by date palms, we anticipate that we will harvest about 8,000 tons of dates, khark and rotab from date palms.
Referring to the damage caused to the dates produced in the city in terms of quality, he noted: The quality of dates in the city has been good every year, but this year, due to problems in providing water to date palms, about 30% of The first-class dates of the city have faced a decrease in quality and the second-class dates have been reduced.
