The director of horticulture affairs of Jihad Keshavarzi of Yazd province announced a 30% increase in the province’s date production with the replacement of date palms in previous years.

Mohammad Reza Ebrahimi, referring to the area of ​​2570 hectares of date palms in the province, of which 2200 hectares are fertile, said: The largest area under date palm cultivation is in Bafgh and Ardakan, so that 2100 hectares of date palms in Bafgh and about 400 hectares in Ardakan have.

He stated: During the last four years, with the help of government credits, the palms of substandard date cultivars in the province have been removed and replaced by suitable cultivars, especially kebabs.

Ebrahimi stated that the cost of removing and replacing date palms is very high and said that about 12 million Tomans is needed for each hectare. He said: Unfortunately, the farmers of the province do not have a proper financial base in this regard and need government assistance, especially credit. They are national because the provincial credits are not very responsible in this regard.

The director of horticulture of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi province, referring to the 30% growth of the province’s date production this year following the measures taken to improve the province’s date palms, said: Last year, the province produced about 8900 tons of dates, but this year It will reach a thousand tons.

According to him, we will see about 12,000 tons of dates produced in the province related to Bafgh city and about 1,500 tons of dates harvested from Ardakan this year.

Ebrahimi also said about the items of Yazd dates: in addition to the local dates that are not good dates and are mainly used for animal feed, kebab, pyaram and Zahedi dates are the main items.

Expressing hope for providing credit for the development of Pyaram dates in the province, he added: Despite the elimination of national funds for the date palm replacement plan over the past few years, we try to provide subsidies to farmers at a price of 12,000 tomans to improve the province’s palms.

Horticulture director of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi province announced the existence of two cold storages to store dates in Bafgh city and said: in Ardakan city, due to the lack of cold storage, dates produced for fresh consumption will be offered to the market after packaging.

Referring to the shortage of cold storages in the province, he said: The total capacity of cold storages in the province is between 20,000 and 25,000 tons, which are mainly empty due to the approach of Nowruz, and in this regard, the need for more cold storages in the province It becomes.

Ebrahimi, stating that Yazd dates are mainly domestic consumption and are partially exported only to the provinces of Tehran and Isfahan, added: Of course, following the reform of date palms, the issue of producing by-products from dates is also on the agenda for greater profitability in the province.

Alireza Taghehbaf, the head of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi conversion industries in the province, in an interview with ISNA reporter in Yazd region, stated: So far, 11 units of conversion industries in the field of dates with nominal production of 6650 tons of products and nominal employment of 105 people have been established, of which three units , An operation license has been issued and another unit is about to be put into operation.

He announced: There are a total of 10 dual-circuit cold stores with a capacity of 26,830 tons in the province, which are used to store agricultural products, including horticultural, agricultural, fisheries, livestock and poultry. Of course, there are two date storage cold storage units in the province, one with a nominal capacity of 400 tons for processed date products and the other with a date storage cold storage with a nominal capacity of 800 tons.

Taghehbaf, stating that date storage and processing units are mostly located in Bafgh city, said: Before separating Tabas city from Yazd, the province had a highly equipped unit in the field of date processing and production of derivatives such as juice, vinegar, etc. in this city.

Referring to the issuance of licenses for the establishment of date grading industries, production of date powder and juice, he said: Of course, in the current situation, the active industrial units in this sector are working in the field of date packaging.

Taqehbaf mentioned that one of the priorities for investing in the province’s conversion and complementary industries this year is the establishment of packaging and processing units for dates to produce derivatives such as juice, vinegar, liquid sugar, jam, concentrate, powder, dough, chocolate and date paste.

The head of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi conversion industries also announced the definition of foreign investment opportunities in Jihad-e-Keshavarzi conversion and complementary industries of the province and said: packing and processing dates will be one of the priorities of foreign investment in this sector and Jihad-e-Agriculture will support investors in this sector. .
