3000 tons of organic dates were exported to Sistan and Baluchestan
The head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: Last year, 3,160 tons of organic dates of Rabbi type were exported to European countries.
تMojtaba Piri in the Agricultural Council of this organization added: 12 thousand and 25 tons of organic dates have been harvested from 3,300 hectares of rain-fed orchards in Sara Makvan and Rutak Khash areas, which have not used any pesticides or chemicals in their production.
He added: In Sistan and Baluchestan, 57,000 hectares of land are dedicated to date cultivation, of which 45,000 hectares are fertile and more than 200,000 tons of dates are produced annually.
The head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization pointed to 100 dates in the province and said: More than 56,000 people are employed in the orchards of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Last year, 12,025 tons of organic dates were harvested from 3,300 hectares of dryland in southern Sistan and Baluchestan, of which 3,160 tons were exported to European countries, Piri said.
He also said about the production of greenhouse products in the province: 50,000 tons of various greenhouse products including cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, squash and strawberries are produced annually in the province.
Piri added: The phenomenon of 20 years of drought in Sistan and Baluchestan has faced the province with many problems in the field of agricultural water supply, so one of the ways to save agricultural water consumption is to develop greenhouse crops.
He said that the 15-fold increase in production, reduction of water consumption and billions in revenue is the result of greenhouse cultivation in the province, adding: There is 248 hectares of greenhouse space in the province and this year about 880 billion rials from the sale of greenhouse products to farmers.
