The director of agriculture of Fars Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: the area under mechanized rice cultivation in this province has increased by 328%.
Ahmad Dezfuli said: Fars province, with 4 crop seasons, has 922 thousand and 351 hectares of cultivated area of ??various crops and produces 9 million 147 thousand and 904 tons of crops each year.
Dezfuli added: Wheat as a strategic crop has an area of ??470 thousand irrigated and rainfed lands and Fars province with about 7% of the country’s wheat cultivation area covers 17% of the total production.
He considered the implementation of the cultivation pattern plan, a participatory breeding plan for the production of dryland wheat seeds and conservation agriculture as among the plans implemented in Fars and announced a 328% increase in mechanized rice cultivation in Fars province and added: with this increase in cultivation Mechanized rice has reached 3,000 hectares.
Dezfuli stated: Also, the implementation of periodic irrigation in rice-rich cities has reduced water by 33 to 50 percent during the rice growing period.
He also referred to the establishment of rice transplant bank in Marvdasht, Sepidan, Rostam and Noorabad cities and said: in some rice-rich cities of the province, strip irrigation (drip) has been implemented and has reduced water consumption in this sector by 50%.
In another part of his speech, Dezfuli pointed to the revival of cotton rotation and added: This plan, which was proposed by the Department of Agriculture 3 years ago in line with the cultivation pattern, is now recognized as one of the country’s leading projects.
He mentioned the development of early cultivation of early cotton cultivars at the level of 600 hectares and mechanized harvesting of cotton at the level of 100 hectares with the aim of reducing production costs, increasing cultivation and harvesting among other activities of the agriculture sector. He added: In the field of supplying feed to sugar factories in the province, autumn cultivation of sugar beet with the aim of reducing water consumption, reducing costs, reducing pests and diseases, as well as increasing production per unit area in southern and eastern cities has begun. Dezfuli Replacement of early sesame, rapeseed and sunflower cultivars instead of late cultivars, use of high-yield hybrid seeds and change of cultivation system from conventional to low and no-till to reduce costs and reduce water consumption are other key activities of the organization’s agriculture sector in line with cultivation pattern. explained.
