35% of the country’s export raisins are produced in Maragheh
Maragheh city has very suitable conditions for cultivation and extraction of crops and orchards due to its suitable climatic conditions and arable land.
At present, 35% of the country’s raisins are exported through grape cultivation and drying in Maragheh.
Akbar Hosseini, head of Maragheh Commerce Department, added:
In the last five months, 11,167 tons of raisins worth 44 billion rials have been exported from Maragheh to Canada,
England, France, Russia and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, which is 35%. Raisins are exported from the country.
He said that the export of horticultural products from Maragheh has significantly increased compared to the last six years, he said:
from the first year until now 25 tons of dried figs worth 39 million rials,
53 tons of Zahedi dates worth 136 million rials and 76 tons Apricot leaf worth 268 million rials has been issued.
The head of Maragheh Commerce Department continued:
Considering the impact of Maragheh on the region’s economy,
the authorities should allocate a reasonable guaranteed price for the purchase of farmers’ raisins in order to increase
the desire to produce this valuable product.
Referring to the destructive effects of smuggling, he said:
Smuggling of goods causes the loss of the domestic industry market, which is a severe blow to the country’s economy.
