400% growth in handicraft exports in six years

The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization of the country said: In the last six years, we have witnessed a 400% growth in the export of handicrafts of the country.

Mohammad Hassan Salehi Maram on the sidelines of the exhibition of the Special Service Festival of the 100th visit of the Cabinet, said: Before 2005, the export of handicrafts was $ 150 million and in the last six years, it was about $ 600 million.

He attributed the fundamental change in this industry to the provincial trips of the ninth and tenth governments and said: With culture, handicrafts once again gained its place among families and abroad.

Salehi considered the non-oil export motto as another goal of the government and said: With the efforts and support of the government, these exports will multiply in all areas and we will get closer to the goal every day.

He called the creation of a border market a study and said: In order to encourage exporters of handicrafts, they will be given five percent of the total export amount as a reward.

Salehi considered branding as one of the most important works in the coming years and said: If this process is completed, the originality of Iranian handicrafts will be shown to the world.

The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization added: With the support of the government, we will double exports this year.
