The head of the country’s tea organization announced the purchase of 75,000 tons of green tea leaves this year so far.
Mohammadoli Roozbehan said: 75,000 tons of green tea leaves have been purchased from tea growers so far, which is a 42% increase compared to last year, while the harvest continues and in the whole of last year, 87,000 tons of green tea leaves Was purchased.
Noting that herbal tea requires a lot of water, he added: Using new methods of irrigation, even under pressure, increases the yield by 2.5 times and improves its leaf quality by up to 50%.
Roozbehan continued: In the past, group irrigation was common among tea growers, but due to the exit of some orchards from the production cycle and the abandonment by their owners, this method has decreased and now at least 300 hectares, equivalent to 1.5% of tea orchards equipped with networks It is a new irrigation.
The head of the country’s tea organization noted: Considering the economics of tea production compared to previous years, we hope to be able to promote group irrigation methods and increase the use of mechanized equipment in tea gardens, and in this regard use the funds of the protection fund. The country’s tea investment will be used in the near future.
Roozbehan stated: From the past years, from the current expenses, credits have been allocated to tea growers, which are not specific to mechanization and could be used to buy fertilizers, harvesters, baskets, etc.
He reminded: Plans are underway to allocate funds directly to the mechanization of tea this year, but the amount has not been finalized yet.
