430 hectares of Azarshahr agricultural lands were planted with autumn onions

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Azarshahr city said: in the current crop year, 430 hectares of agricultural lands of this city have been allocated for the cultivation of autumn onions.
Firooz Tolouhiat announced the production of 18,000 tons of red autumn onions in the agricultural lands of this city.
He estimated the average yield of red onions per hectare of arable land at about 40 tons and said: Onions harvested in the fall have a long shelf life for storage.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Azarshahr city continued: onions is planted and harvested in Gugan and Mamqan sections of this city due to its sensitivity to the salinity of water and soil.
Toloohiat stated: For the first time, this year, Zarqan cultivar onions was planted in 20 hectares of agricultural lands of Azarshahr, which has a high resistance and high yield compared to red onions against thrips pest.
He pointed out: After garlic, onions occupies most of the agricultural lands of Azarshahr, especially the Gogan section, and also plays an important role in the employment of the rural population.
