The deputy director of handicrafts of the province’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization said: 1,500 square meters of kilims are woven annually in Markazi province, and half of this product is exported to Europe and the United States in luggage.
Kazemi said: “This art has a history of 2,500 years in Iran, and the prominent artists of Markazi province have been able to revive it after years of artistic oblivion.”
He added: “Artists in Markazi province produce all kinds of embossed flower kilims, plain floor kilims and double kilims.”
Out of 295 active handicrafts in the country, 110 are located in Markazi province and one third of the country’s handicrafts include weaving, simple floor kilim, embossed flowers and weaving, bags and canvas weaving, weaving, Jajim weaving. Knitting, woodcarving, instrument making, porcelain knot and stamping of Chakshi copper, engraving and traditional embroidery, pearl embroidery, Bukhara embroidery and coin embroidery are flourishing in this province. It has been blown up and the export of $ 6 million is the result of the revival of this original Iranian art.
