The director of horticulture of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad said:
This year, according to estimates, due to frost and drought, we are witnessing a decrease of about 60% in the production of ruby grapes in the Sistan region.

According to the Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Office, Ardeshir Shahraki added:
80% of the grapes produced in Sistan and Baluchestan are ruby and the rest include Fakhri, Asgari, Cow Eye, Amiri, Sangak and the bride’s thumb.

He further stated:
At present, the harvest of ruby grapes, the earliest grapes in the country
from the area of three thousand hectares of orchards in the province is underway.

The director of horticulture of Jihad Keshavarzi of the province stated:
3,700 hectares of orchards in Sistan and Baluchestan are dedicated to grape cultivation, of which 3,000 hectares are fertile and the rest are infertile.

He said that the grape harvest in Sistan and Baluchestan will continue until June:
Every year, about 30,000 tons of this product was harvested and sent to the market in the province,
but this year due to drought, the harvest is much less.

Shahraki stated:
Before the drought, 2,600 hectares of orchards in Sistan region were dedicated to ruby grape cultivation.

He stated:
Ruby grapes are mainly cultivated in Sistan region and to a lesser extent in Khash, Mirjaveh, Nikshahr and Iranshahr counties.

The director of horticulture of Jihad Keshavarzi of the province continued:
Sistan grapes have special characteristics such as aroma, taste, appearance and unique appearance,
which is a comparative advantage that should be considered.

He pointed out:
If the necessary infrastructure is provided in the production, distribution and marketing cycle,
this product can play an effective role in improving the living conditions of farmers,
economic and social conditions in the region and even providing part of the country’s needs.

Shahraki said:
Considering the situation in Sistan, providing safe water has always been the most important concern of farmers.
In contrast, salt water is of special importance.
