600 tons of dates are produced in Nehbandan city

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Nehbandan city said: Currently, about 420 hectares of agricultural lands of Nehbandan are under date cultivation and this year 600 tons of dates will be produced in the city.
Mohammad Khairkhah added: 110 farmers are working in this direction and date cultivars in the city such as local cultivars Khareh, Khosh and Perko and commercial cultivars Kabkab and Zahedi.
He stated that the dates produced in Nehbandan are more than local cultivars, and specified: these products are sold in the domestic market of the city and in the informal markets of neighboring cities.
The director of Nehbandan Jihad Keshavarzi considered the implementation of the plan to improve, remove and replace date palms, pruning orchards, feeding fertilizers, fighting against tick infestation and date palms, holding training classes and extension visits as the most important measures to increase date crop production from Jihad organization funds. Agriculture of South Khorasan stated.
Khairkhah, pointing out that 75% of the population of Nehbandan city are farmers, said: wheat, barley, cotton, sorghum, corn, dates, olives, pomegranate, pistachios, grapes and saffron are the main products of farmers in this city.
He considered mechanized sample farms in the city as 980 hectares with crops such as wheat, barley, sorghum, olives and corn and said: to achieve more mechanized cultivation in this city, another one thousand and 200 hectares of agricultural lands are studied and Is under study.
The director of Nehbandan Agricultural Jihad reminded: 60% of Nehbandan lands are agricultural lands, 40% of which are traditionally managed and the other 20% are mechanized.
Khairkhah stated that the acceptance of new irrigation methods has been at a very high level, adding: So far, 1,200 hectares have been studied in this regard and irrigation has been carried out under pressure at 260 hectares.
He added: 1,366 hectares of the city lands have been studied for leveling and integration operations.
