60,000 tons of dates are harvested from Shadegan palm trees
The head of Shadegan Jihad-e-Agriculture said: There are more than 12,000 hectares of palm trees in the city, of which 10,000 hectares can be harvested, and our forecast is to harvest about 60,000 tons of dates this year.
Hamid Matroudi stated: In Shadegan city, various agricultural products are cultivated, most of which are dedicated to date palms.
He added: The harvest of date palms has started from the beginning of September and will continue until October 11th. At present, the final price of each kilogram of dates has not been determined and announced, and now the dates produced by the packing workshops are being purchased from farmers on account.
The head of Shadegan Agricultural Jihad stated: Last year, the price of each kilogram of dates was 400 Tomans, and this year we hope that the price of each kilogram of dates will reach 500 Tomans; Otherwise, farmers will suffer.
Matroudi continued: The dates produced by Shadegan are of the colonial type and there are a total of 2 million palms in the city, of which 1.6 million palms are covered by insurance.
He stated: Also, the area of rice cultivation in the city reaches 6000 hectares, of which 5500 hectares can be harvested. The average production per hectare is 3.5 tons of rice and this year is expected to produce about 20,000 tons of rice, including amber and local.
The head of Shadegan Jihad-e-Agriculture also announced the cultivation of 400 hectares of blue-eyed beans and the beginning of its harvest from the first of October.
