67,000 tons of tea leaves were harvested from northern gardens
Habib Jahansaz added: Of this amount, 50,000 tons of green leaves are first-class and 16,000 tons of second-class green leaves, of which more than 15,000 tons of quality dry tea have been produced and marketed.
He pointed out: So far, a total of 167 billion tomans, which includes 70 billion tomans of government share and 97 billion tomans of tea factories and constitutes 83% of the demands of tea growers, has been paid to northern tea growers and this year we are in a good position in terms of payments.
Jahansaz pointed out that there are 25,000 hectares of tea gardens in Gilan and Mazandaran and 55,000 tea growers are active in these two provinces. He said: The turnover in the tea industry sector in the country is 800 billion Tomans annually, which can play an effective role in creating employment and Have a stable income of the villagers.
He added: Annually, $ 20 million in foreign exchange earnings from tea export revenue goes to the country without preventing the import of foreign tea, and we are trying to increase this amount.
The head of the Tea Organization reminded: in Gilan and Mazandaran provinces with 170 tea factories, 25% of domestic demand is produced, which can be increased by supporting the tea industry.
Referring to the government’s support for domestic tea, he said: The government removed 4,200 Tomans from tea imports last year and introduced it to the Nimayi market. On the other hand, by allocating funds in a timely manner, it provided satisfaction to tea growers and tea industry owners. So that the tea organization can pay the demands of tea growers on time, which will create competition between tea growers and industry owners.
Jahansaz added: Government support to continue to improve the condition of tea and return abandoned tea orchards to cultivation to return these orchards to the domestic production cycle and increase the share of domestic production from 25% to 40%.
