70% of Rasht rice is ready to be harvested
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Rasht city said: now 70% of the rice of the city is ready to be harvested.
Masoud Asadiparvar stated: Rasht city is the largest rice-growing city in the country and most of the products of this city are ready to be harvested.
He pointed out that now 26% of rice in Rasht city has been harvested, adding: Farmers in 16,000 hectares of rice fields in Rasht have been damaged due to heavy rains due to rain and these damages are between 40 and 70%.
Asadi Parvar continued: 25% of paddy farmers in Rasht had taken action to insure their paddy fields and 9% of these people suffered damages due to rice dormancy in their paddy lands and insurance has been taken to compensate for the damages.
He stated that Rasht is one of the cities where rice insurance is done more than other cities in the province, adding: But we are still far from the ideal point and arrangements should be made for more farmers to insure agricultural products. .
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi in Rasht noted: In previous years, the farmers who suffered damages, unfortunately, did not receive their money on time, and late payment reduced the incentive for farmers to insure their crops.
Asadi Parvar pointed out that we should increase farmers’ awareness of insurance benefits because rice is a high-risk crop, adding: If farmers are sure that they will receive compensation immediately, they will have more incentive to insure their paddy fields. .
He stated: On average, 280,000 tons of paddy is produced annually in the city of Rasht, from which 160,000 tons of white rice is obtained.
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Rasht city said: before the rains, it was predicted that we would see an increase of white rice production by eight percent compared to last year, but with the rains that occurred, we must announce the exact amount after the rice is fully harvested.
