700 year old walnut tree with more than 15 thousand walnuts
The head of Garmsar Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department said: The oldest walnut tree in Garmsar is 700 years old.
Mirakhorlu added: An old walnut tree, which is located in the old farm of Deh in the summer area of Aradan Heights, is about 700 years old.
According to him, more than 15,000 walnuts are harvested from this tree annually and it is 20.16 meters high and its canopy surface is 273 meters.
The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Garmsar city said: the old Rameh Bala walnut tree, 44 km northeast of Aradan, is also one of the old trees of Garmsar and is 210 meters above sea level.
Mirakhorloo stated that walnut is a shade tree that is often cultivated for ornamental purposes, adding that this tree grows in temperate regions and its male and female flowers are on a pedestal.
He stated: Walnut tree has the best adaptation in cold, humid and low rainy weather.
Mirakhorlu said: The old walnut tree of Bala Rameh Bala is 17.80 meters high and its canopy surface is 127 square meters and it is located in the center of Rame Bala village and on the bank of the permanent river Lazoreh.
The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of the city pointed out: The old walnut tree of Siah Aftab Ivanki region is one of the oldest walnut trees in Garmsar region with 500 years old.
He continued: Irrigation of this tree is done with a series of aqueducts and the surface around it is rocky. This tree is 28 meters high and its coverage area is 855 meters.
Mirakhorloo reminded: Walnut is a hot and dry fruit and its oil has been used for cooking for a long time and in terms of medicinal properties, walnut is hematopoietic and purifies the blood. It is also a painkiller and walnut leaf extract is useful for treating joints.
