7,000 tons of dates are harvested in Mahshahr
The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of the Khark harvest and said: it is predicted that Mahshahr city will produce 7,000 tons of dates.
Hamidreza Rashidi stated: Khark harvest started a week ago and will continue for another week and after that the rotab harvest will start. Harvesting of dates will also start after Khark and Rotab.
He stated that 2,000 hectares are under date palm cultivation, adding: 1700 hectares of this area under cultivation are fruitful and 300 hectares are seedlings.
Rashidi continued: 1,600 hectares of areas under date cultivation are allocated to the colonial cultivar, which will be exported abroad, and 100 hectares of date palms will be harvested in Khark and Rotab and sold inside the country.
Referring to the fact that 90% of the date crop is in the city of Colonial, he said: In Mahshahr, 10% of date production is allocated to other cultivars such as Barhi, Gantar and Barim, and our forecast is that the harvest level of the city will be 7,000 tons of dates.
The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad stated that 6 workshops in this city are responsible for packing this product, noting that the date product of Mahshahr city has a high quality and the amount of production has not changed compared to last year.
He added: Farmers in this city are dissatisfied with the insurance fund for the payment of damages, and no assignment has been made yet to address the insurance problems of farmers. Given that our city is one of the top six cities in date production, so the problems of farmers must be addressed as soon as possible.
