This is the situation of the world’s saffron origin, where according to the chairman of the National Saffron Council of Iran, 80% of its saffron is exported raw and only 20% of it is exported in packages.
Ehtesham stressed that the price of saffron is not favorable in proportion to the effort of farmers, stressed to ISNA, saffron packaging should be with the Iranian brand and exported with this brand and saffron should be known in the world as Iran.
He added that the purchase price of saffron from the farmer is one-twenty-fifth of the world market, and in fact the purchase price from the farmer is far from the export price; With the increase in the exchange rate, the capital of saffron farmers is wasted and there is a large price gap between the purchase price from the farmer to the export market.
He continued by introducing the National Saffron Council: This council is a national organization that is composed of producers and exporters at the national level; The National Saffron Council is trying to move towards branding saffron prices in favor of farmers by branding and participating in the global market and managing the saffron export market.
Mohsen Ehtesham reported a 10 percent drop in saffron exports in the first four months of this year due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, but also promised that with the Supreme Leader’s emphasis on preventing the sale of raw materials, the National Saffron Working Group, with representatives from the Ministries of Silence, Jihad-e-Keshavarzi, the Trade Development Organization of the National Saffron Council, chambers of commerce and cooperation and all people working in the field of saffron should be formed.
