800 tons of dates are harvested from Qasr Shirin orchards

Harvesting of dates from Qasr Shirin city palms has started and it is predicted that more than 800 tons of dates will be harvested from these orchards this year.
Engineer Kiomars Shahbazi, director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Qasrshirin city, announced the level of date orchards in this city as 463 hectares and said: out of this amount, 99 hectares are fertile and 364 hectares are seedlings and have not yet reached fruiting age.
Shahbazi considered the available date cultivars of Qasr Shirin city as the area under cultivation, including Zahedi, Ashresi, Azraq, Khazravi and Jafari, respectively, and added: The earliest date variety is Qasrshirin Azraq and the latest is Ashrasi cultivar, which will be harvested until mid-October.
He said: Unfortunately, this year, due to the occurrence of drought and tick infestation, we saw crop decline in date orchards, which reduced yields and reduced crop production this year. 800 tons of produce from date palm orchards of this city and be consumed in the market.
Referring to the date of planting dates in Qasr Shirin city, Shahbazi pointed to the measures taken by the management of Jihad Keshavarzi in order to develop date orchards and said: Every year, by providing low-interest and long-term facilities and distributing date seedlings for free and subsidizing farmers We encourage the construction of date orchards, and this year, with a credit of 280 million rials, 25 hectares of old and dilapidated orchards left over from the imposed war were removed and replaced with date cultivars.
It is worth mentioning that Qasr Shirin is the only region of Kermanshah province and even the northern part of the country that has the possibility of growing dates due to its unique climatic conditions.
