810 thousand kg of sunflower seeds were harvested in Nahavand
The director of Nahavand Jihad-e-Agriculture announced the harvest of 810,000 kilograms of sunflower in the second autumn crop in Nahavand.
Ahad Zafari added: This crop was harvested from 450 hectares of Nahavand farms, and an average of 1,500 kilograms has been harvested from each hectare.
He stated: The first crop was harvested from more than one thousand tons of 500 hectares of land in summer, and the produced sunflower is planted in the form of nuts or seeds and oil in Nahavand.
He added: The type of seed or nuts is planted to a lesser extent than oil, but the oil is cultivated for use in oil mills on a very large scale in the fields of Khazal, Zarrin Dasht and Gyan.
Zafari stated: Most of the products this year were delivered to the first Nahavand lubrication plant and the surplus was sent to Lorestan and Kermanshah provinces.
He said: Nahavand with the production of 98% of sunflower in the province has the first rank of production of this product and is known as the city of sunflower.
Director of Nahavand Jihad-e-Agriculture, stating that more than one thousand people are working in this sector, continued: Nahavand sunflower seeds and nuts have a special reputation due to their quality and nuts are very good due to the fertile agricultural fields.
