The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts of the Alborz General Directorate of Cultural Heritage complained that Alborz does not have a permanent exhibition of handicrafts, adding: This has made it difficult for both artisans and artisans to buy their handicrafts. Their products face serious limitations.
Ali Ebadi, referring to the situation of activities in the field of handicrafts in Alborz, stated: out of 295 approved fields in the field of handicrafts, 70 fields are active in Alborz.
He continued by stating that so far handicrafts that are only for Alborz have not been identified: Alborz is an immigrant province and studies show that except for a special design of kilim weaving that is specific to Taleghan, this province is handicrafts in a special field that is native. It doesn’t.
The official also pointed out how the province’s handicrafts are exported and said: More than 90% of the works of Alborzi artists that are exported abroad are sent in suitcases.
Ebadi complained that Alborz does not have a permanent exhibition of handicrafts, adding: This has caused problems for those interested in handicrafts to buy their works and for artists to face serious restrictions in selling their products.
Alborz Cultural Heritage Office’s Deputy for Handicrafts and Traditional Arts said: In addition to pursuing land acquisition to create a permanent exhibition of handicrafts in the province, a handicrafts exhibition will be held on the ground floor of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage for the next month and a half.
Ebadi continued to hold an exhibition of handicrafts in the grounds of Shah Abbasi Caravanserai and said: In this exhibition, about 60 artists have exhibited their works in 26 rooms in fields such as kilims, pottery, mosaics, wood, etc.
