The head of the Nuts and Dried Fruits Union announced: 90% of Iran’s peanuts and sunflower seeds are imported.

Alireza Arzani stated: Currently, 90% of peanuts and sunflower seeds are imported from China, India, Argentina and Canada.

He noted that the main imports of peanuts are from China and India, noting that sunflower seeds are often imported from China, Argentina and Canada.

The head of the Nuts and Dried Fruits Union stated: Excessive imports of sunflower seeds and peanuts from abroad are destroying domestic products, and if this continues, we will not see the cultivation of crops such as peanuts and sunflowers, and the cultivation of this Products will end in Iran.

He said: Iranian nuts and dried fruits are a brand in the world and the whole world knows these products by the name of Iran, but unfortunately we are witnessing the destruction of domestic products due to mismanagement.

Referring to uncontrolled imports in the years of shortage of products in the country, he said: I believe that in the years when we face shortages of domestic products in the country, we should import with management, not open the borders for each product to enter the country and market all dried fruit items. Let’s face the challenge.
