Lalejin or the pottery capital of Iran is located 20 km northwest of Hamedan and is one of the most important pottery centers in Iran. Asphalting in Laljin has a very long history dating back to about 7500 years ago. Excavations in recent years on Hegmataneh Hill show that Laljin was an important center for pottery and ceramics production in the Middle East in ancient times, and still about 80% of Laljin’s population is about 55,000. They are engaged in the production of pottery and ceramics, and it can be said that pottery in Lalejin has been something beyond the occupation and profession for the people of this city, and has taken root in the souls of the people.

As we have said, pottery in Laljin is the main occupation of the people, and a total of 925 traditional and modern pottery workshops are currently operating in this city, which produce the pottery and ceramics required for more than 280 different shops of handicrafts and pottery. In recent years, pottery in Laljin has been heavily attacked by low-quality Chinese pottery and ceramics.
Due to its low cost compared to Lalejin pottery, it has been able to gain many customers.
That’s why the people of Laljin protested against the government and provincial officials for preventing the import of cheap and low-quality Chinese pottery and ceramics into the country.

As you walk the streets and various parts of this ancient city, you will see countless women, men and children creating beautiful works of art and continuing on the path of their ancestors.
Of course, it is not surprising that the people of this city have made pottery their profession, because Lalejin is known as the pottery capital of the world. Over the past few decades, the Khoshuyi Brothers, one of Laljin’s leading potters, have created the city’s most important pottery artwork, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to watch and buy beautiful pottery.
