Activity of handicraft workshops in Bukan
Ismail Rahimi, head of the Bukan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department in Urmia, said that there are currently 50 active handicraft workshops in the city. These workshops have created jobs for a total of 100 people, he said.
He added: This year, ID cards have been issued to 350 artists in the city in various fields of handicrafts.
Rahimi added: These cards have been issued to artists in various fields of handicrafts, including kilim weaving, traditional knitting, sewing local clothes, giwe weaving, inlay and mosaic, pottery, doll making, sewing local clothes, leather embroidery and kilim weaving. In addition to receiving cheap facilities, people who have these cards can be introduced to domestic and international exhibitions and benefit from social security insurance.
The head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department of Bukan acknowledged that another 20 cases have been submitted to the provincial capital for issuing cards, which will increase the number of people with a handicraft card to 370.
He continued: Out of the total number of people who have industrial identification cards, 14 people use the services of the Social Security Insurance Fund; Also, this year, three training courses in the fields of inlay and mosaic, pottery, doll making, sewing local clothes, leather embroidery and kilim weaving training have been held for the artists of this city.
Bukan city is located in the south of West Azarbaijan province and on the western transit road and is adjacent to Mahabad, Miandoab, Shahindej and Saqez counties and is one of the most immigrant cities in Iran.
The city has a population of 251,000, of which 194,000 live in urban areas and 56,000 in rural areas, making it the fourth most populous city in West Azerbaijan after Urmia, Khoy and Miandoab.
