$ 210 million export of handmade carpets
In order for Iran’s carpet exports to flourish, we need to lift domestic sanctions and release carpet exports so that exporters can export handmade carpets with complete confidence, said the director general of the National Union of Handmade Carpet Cooperatives.
Abdullah Bahrami stated: The total export of carpets during the year is more than $ 400 million and it will not work if we release the export of carpets so that the exporter can export Iranian handmade carpets without any worries and with complete confidence.
He mentioned the volume of carpet exports in the first six months of the year as $ 210 million and said: Carpet exports were a bit difficult due to sanctions. Unfortunately, the second embargo was domestic sanctions, which persuaded the central bank and exporters to exchange. Return the proceeds to the Nima system.
The CEO of the Union of Handmade Carpets Cooperatives added: This action does not work for carpets because most carpet exporters get a sum of money, a sum is paid over two or three months and some of the carpets are kept safe, which makes it difficult to return the money. It has become a brake on carpet exports.
Bahrami said that 80 percent of Iranian hand-woven carpets are exported, of which 30 percent are exported to the United States.
In the end, he said that the total number of handmade carpet weavers is one million. We do our best.
according to statistics, the annual value of Iranian carpet exports is about $ 400 million, of which $ 120 million is exported to the United States. Declining demand, problems related to financial transfers due to sanctions and the implementation of foreign exchange contracts are among the factors reducing Iran’s carpet exports.
