Iran ranks first in the export of handmade carpets
The deputy director of the Iranian Carpet Center said: Iran is in the first place in the export of handmade carpets, which is also due to the artistic nature of Iranian handmade carpets. Today, special attention should be paid to the artistic and commercial aspects of carpets.
Mojtaba Faizollahi said this afternoon at a ceremony honoring Zanjan’s handmade carpet activists: Carpet weavers create the art of sustainability such as carpets with their headscarves, at a time when resistance economy is one of the most important issues in the development of the carpet industry.”
He added: Promoting the production of handmade carpets is a clear example of resistance economy; This is because the industry plays an important role in creating sustainable employment and reducing unemployment and currency appreciation. Employment can be created with minimal capital in the carpet industry.
Faizollahi added: Before the 1980s, we had exports of over one billion dollars a year in the field of handmade carpet exports, which for some reason was opposed to imports, but since then we have seen stable exports in this industry for many years. Which continues vigorously.
He added: In 1391 and 1392, the carpet industry faced problems in terms of exports, but after the agreement of Borjam, we are witnessing growth in the export of handmade carpets. Last year, we had an increase of 23.8 percent, and this year, in the first six months of the year, an increase of 13.3 percent has been recorded.
The deputy head of the Iranian Carpet Center pointed out: At present, a total of 320,000 people are insured in carpet weaving and more than 500,000 people apply for insurance through this way, and this is in a situation where one million carpet weavers in the country are working in this industry. .
He added: One third of production is related to domestic demand and two thirds is in the export sector. Given the percentage of domestic demand, we need to pay special attention in this regard.
Faizollahi added: Advertising, carpet weavers’ insurance, providing facilities and tax exemptions in the tax exemption section of Iran Carpet Center in order to exempt from added value are among the programs to improve the carpet market situation and help carpet weavers that are included in the programs.
He reminded: The increase in the cost price of goods has caused us to lag behind our competitors in this industry, while in the event of a value-added exemption, we will see a 10% reduction in the cost price of handmade carpets.
He noted that the lack of funding and the lack of attention from officials have led to a recession in the hand-woven carpet industry, which has played an important role in the failure to implement out-of-center programs.
