The Deputy Minister of Economy and Human Resources Development of Kermanshah Governorate said: the long tradition of carpet weaving in Kermanshah Province needs a jihadi culture to be revived.
Reza Rahimi stated in the meeting of the province’s carpet working group: Kermanshah has many competitive advantages and talents in various fields, which can be turned into a paradise for entrepreneurs and investors.
He added: Unfortunately, despite such valuable potentials, Kermanshah still suffers from low per capita income and high unemployment.
Trying to revive the Songhar carpet
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Resource Development of Kermanshah Governorate further stated: Carpet is an art of Iranian industry, which fortunately has been common in the Sangroukliai region since ancient times.
Referring to the activities of Songhor Carpet Cooperative Company in recent decades, he said: Songhor Carpet Cooperative Company first emerged from the heart of carpet weavers in the villages around this city and then expanded its activities by establishing offices in Songhor and Kermanshah cities. Subsequently, this carpet weaving cooperative established a head office in Tehran and then set up a sales office in Cologne, Germany, and operated as one of the most successful collections in the country.
He said: Unfortunately, with the wrong policies pursued during the ninth and tenth governments, the offices of this cooperative were closed one after another, and its buildings in Sanghar and Kermanshah were also sold, and the work reached a point where this powerful complex Stopped moving.
The deputy governor of Kermanshah said: Fortunately, in the government of prudence and hope in line with the policies of the resistance economy, with the efforts and consultations that took place, the Songhar carpet weaving cooperative company resumed its activities and the senior management of the province supported this process with all its might. This collection strives to achieve the defined programs and goals.
Referring to the situation of carpet weaving schools in Kermanshah province, the senior director said: The city of Birjand, with a population of 250,000, has two thriving high schools for carpet weaving, while the city of one million in Kermanshah has only one high school in this field. This number should be developed in all cities of the province with the view of applying the trainings.
Rahimi considered the lack of acceptance of Kermanshahi students in fields such as carpet weaving as having social and cultural roots and said: Kermanshahi families are more eager to send their children to fields such as mathematics and physics, while these fields are saturated and among them the selection of income-generating fields such as Carpet weaving can create a better career for them.
He went on to discuss the differences in the type of view of work and employment in other provinces and said: In Tabriz, men are engaged in weaving in carpet weaving workshops with great interest and have a decent income.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Resource Development of Kermanshah Governorate said that a change in these attitudes requires a jihadist work in the field of culture and said: Managers and officials should promote work culture in society from different forums and among different strata and the people, especially the youth. Encourage activity in the field of carpet weaving, which has a long tradition in Kermanshah.
Forming a wool chain to sell carpets
He introduced Kermanshah as a producer of one of the best and most high-quality wools in Iran and said: this high-quality wool is sent in raw and unprocessed form to cities such as Shiraz and Tehran, and the resulting yarn is given to Kashani, Isfahani and Tabriz weavers. It will be given.
Rahimi added: This is while Kermanshahi carpet weavers are weaving their carpets with low-quality yarns that are bought from other cities, which has damaged the quality of the goods produced.
He announced the plan to form a wool chain to sell carpets in the province and said: The Mining Industry and Trade Organization has presented a comprehensive plan in the process of completing a value added chain for three thousand tons of wool produced in the province, including purchase, sorting, washing, spinning, Dyeing, weaving and production, final payment and branding and sales in the market.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Resources Development of Kermanshah Governorate continued: more than 48 billion tomans of credit is needed to convert these three thousand tons of wool into handmade carpets ready for sale in the market, and we will try to provide these credits with the planned measures and program.
He also informed about the readiness of Imam Khomeini Relief Committee to buy products in the field of carpets and said: in a joint meeting held with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Employment and Self-Sufficiency of Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, the readiness of this group to buy all carpets Production of the province It was announced that this work is a great help to the province. Also, according to the agreements made, the relief committee will provide the necessary facilities for training six to seven thousand people in the field of carpet weaving.
