South Khorasan handicraft market in Bagh-e Akbari
The director general of cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism of South Khorasan said: the complex of carriage space and stables of Akbari garden has been revived and put into operation as a handicraft market.
Public Relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of South Khorasan, Hassan Ramadan said: Akbariyeh garden and mansion in the past formed the central core of Akbariyeh village.
Pointing out that this complex was designed and built for residential and governmental use, he said: The garden and its related buildings are located on a 3.5-hectare land and its pavilion is on two separate floors, related to the Zandi period to the early Pahlavi period. Designed and constructed and its infrastructure is about 2000 square meters.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of South Khorasan continued: This complex has components such as a fence, entrance, main building, service spaces, garden and aqueduct.
Ramezani, pointing out that the main building is located in the central part and has an interesting and special symmetry and proportion compared to other parts, said: the building has two floors and the most prominent parts of it are the Hall of Mirrors and the Dome House.
He continued: The western part of the mansion is also on two floors and includes communication rooms and corridors and was built in the Pahlavi period and Akbari Garden according to the geometric system in the plot, the adaptation of the central street to the symmetry of the pavilion Pure geometries and indicators are a prominent example of Persian garden.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of South Khorasan added: There are many fruitless trees such as pine, which is more than 100 years old and a variety of cypress trees along with fruit trees such as pistachios and pomegranates, as well as shrubs such as roses, dahlias and shrubs and seasonal flowers. It has created a desirable diversity of plant species.
Ramezani said: Irrigation system, benefiting from open air, light and soil in designing this complex, like other Iranian gardens, is methodical and planned.
He continued: The garden and mansion complex of Akbarieh has been dedicated to Astan Quds Razavi for the establishment of the museum, and now the archeological and anthropological museums of Birjand are located in this garden.
Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of South Khorasan added: Akbariyeh Garden along with 9 Iranian gardens with the number 1372-009 was unanimously registered in the World Heritage List in the 35th meeting of the World Heritage Committee in 1390 AH.
Ramezani continued: Previously, the collection of Bagh-e Akbari was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on 02/03/78 with the number 2326.
He continued: In 1392, the design and implementation of the museum of the province’s celebrities in the Zandieh mansion of this garden began and now the final stages of its implementation are underway.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of South Khorasan, stating that this museum includes the introduction of the province’s celebrities in the form of statues, movable works belonging to celebrities, written works and their scientific and spiritual services that are exposed to the public, said: Credits spent for the design and operation of this museum in the fiscal year 1392 is 200 million rials, which has been provided from national sources.
Ramezani pointed out: Also, the collection of carriage space and stables in Akbari Garden has been revived and put into operation as a handicraft market.
He mentioned the purpose of creating this bazaar and introducing the province’s handicrafts to tourists and visitors of the Akbarieh Garden World Complex and noted: the credit spent to revive this complex is 120 million Rials, which is from the participation of the private sector and national resources of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts And tourism of the province and the world heritage site of Bagh-e Akbari has been provided.
