Unfortunately, the number of artists who are actually currently weaving kilims is much less than the number announced by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, he said, expressing concern about the current state of Hersin kilims.
The head of the province’s artists and craftsmen association reminded: According to Kermanshah cultural heritage officials, more than five thousand people are engaged in kilim weaving in Harsin city alone, while only one or two active workshops and multi-workshops with two, three or four kilim weavers in this city There is.
He emphasized: the authorities, in order to show the high number of craftsmen in this field, issue a license to set up a workshop for people who have no knowledge even about the raw materials of kilim weaving.
Naseri noted: Unfortunately, some people are trying to ax the roots of this old industry by setting up formal workshops with the aim of receiving employment loans of 50 to 250 million Tomans, and even if production is done in these workshops, it is of very low quality.
Emphasizing that the Hersin kilim is rapidly moving towards anonymity and destruction, he said: With such a situation, how can we bring the Hersin kilim into the arena of competition and manage the domestic market and look at the global market.
The chairman of the province’s association of craftsmen artists emphasized: With this situation, Glim Hersin is taking his last breath and we have held it with our claws and teeth.
He also criticized the late action of cultural heritage for the national registration of Harsin as a city of kilim and said: in a meeting held in defense of the registration of Hersin as a national city of kilim in the Cultural Heritage Organization, some objections to this national registration were mentioned. So that the Cultural Heritage Organization sends us a list of problems to solve them.
