A member of the Presidium of the National Saffron Council, noting that the peak of new saffron harvest is in November, but has now entered the market in a new way, announced the reluctance to register saffron farms.

Ali Hosseini, stating that the peak of new saffron harvest begins in November and now some saffron has entered the market in a new way, said: It is not possible to predict the exact amount of saffron production, because some may produce and No one knows or the wrong information is given.

He continued: We suggested that saffron farms be registered so that we can obtain accurate information about the amount of saffron planting and the areas where saffron is grown, and organize saffron growers according to a single order. We implemented the plan as a pilot, but unfortunately it was not pursued, because it required a national and serious determination, which unfortunately did not exist. Therefore, statistics and information on saffron cultivation area are not accurate.

A member of the presidium of the National Saffron Council, in response to a question about whether any action has been taken to reduce the sale of raw saffron, said: We have been saying for more than 10 years that saffron should not be sold raw. It is not a big deal to buy saffron from a farmer and sell it after packaging. To be able to create an industry that obtains other valuable products from saffron is a big step.

In the end, he pointed out that the conditions are in place to obtain by-products from saffron, and said: “This action is time consuming and requires support and policy-making.” All the worries we have now are rooted in the lack of a proper strategy and roadmap for the production and trade of saffron in the future, and we will not go anywhere unless we adopt the right policy.
