Hossein Mohammadi stated: Torbat-e Heydariyeh city is one of the important centers of saffron production in the world, which has 8700 hectares of cultivated area.
He said: 35 tons of dried saffron with very good quality is produced and sent to domestic and foreign markets annually in Torbat-e-Heydariyeh city.

He said: to improve the quality of saffron last year, 30 dryers were provided to farmers to dry the saffron produced mechanized and with the desired quality.
Mohammadi said: Although most of the city’s saffron is cultivated mechanized, but we have two missing links in the production of this product, first, saffron is still harvested by hand, which increases production costs, and the other is the lack of conversion industries.
He added: Considering that saffron is a medicinal plant, all its components can be used much better, especially in medicinal and industrial uses.
Mohammadi pointed out that the place of industries related to the agricultural sector, especially saffron, which is a strategic and valuable product, is empty in the city that should be expanded, continued: Due to the weather conditions this year, a significant reduction in harvest We do not have saffron and it will be the same as in previous years.
He said: Currently, two large companies exporting saffron are active in the city, and the storage capacity of the city is at least 30 tons of saffron.
The director of Torbat-e-Heydariyeh Agricultural Jihad further announced the opening of the largest saffron market in the country by the municipality in Torbat-e-Heydariyeh and specified: Undoubtedly, with the opening of this market, which is active for 45 days to two months, farmers will no longer worry about selling.
