Production of more than 6000 tons of almonds in the gardens of Kermanshah
The horticulture director of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province announced the production of more than six thousand tons of almonds from the orchards of the province.
Mansour Ahmadi stated that the area of ??almond orchards in the province is 4561 hectares and added: more than 2300 hectares of these orchards are rainfed and the rest are irrigated and most of the irrigated and rainfed orchards in the province are fertile.
Ahmadi stated that the average yield of almond orchards in the province is 1.33 tons per hectare and added: 6128 tons of almonds have been produced in the orchards of the province this year.
The director of horticulture of Kermanshah Jihad Agricultural Organization mentioned the main almond cultivars of the province including late flowering cultivars of Shahroud, Shokofeh, Super Nova and Azar.
Ahmadi continued: Most almond groves in Kermanshah province are located in the two cities of Kermanshah and Sahneh, although we have more or less almond orchards in all cities of the province.
Ahmadi added: Almonds have been harvested in a limited way in the form of almond paste in February, and the harvest of dried almonds has started in early September and has continued until now.
Referring to the plan to develop almond orchards in the province, he said: The development of almond orchards depends on the demand of gardeners.
