Annually 23000 tons of hazelnuts are produced in Iranian orchards
The director general of cold and dry fruits of the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture said: more than 23,000 tons of hazelnuts are produced annually in the country’s orchards.
According to the public relations of Qazvin Jihad Agricultural Organization, Shokrallah Hajivand stated in a meeting of the Hazelnut Technical Committee, which was held in the presence of horticultural managers of Qazvin and Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization and a few gardeners in Qazvin: It is one thousand hectares, from which 23,000 tons of hazelnuts are produced under the cultivation of orchards.
According to him, this year we will have the development of hazelnut orchards in the sloping lands of the country at the level of 3543 hectares, which will reach 35,363 hectares in a five-year plan for the development of hazelnut orchards.
Hajivand Babian said that Iran is one of the top 7 countries in the field of hazelnut production. Product increase.
He reminded: Currently, we have a problem with the regulations on propagation of cultivars, and we hope that these obstacles to the production of seedlings will be removed.
The Director General of Cold Fruits of the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture, pointing out that suitable conditions are available for the development of hazelnut orchards on sloping lands, said: Many research projects have been carried out for hazelnuts, which we hope will expand.
Hajivand pointed out: for all agricultural products, a comprehensive product plan should be developed so that we have developed programs for each product in the form of the sixth plan.
He added: In the discussion of pests and diseases, good programs have been done, and one of our key topics in any subject is the promotion of research findings in the field of product production.
The official stressed the need to develop conversion and complementary industries to develop and expand the processing of agricultural products.
Hajivand reminded: One of the weaknesses in the field of horticulture is the lack of a strong and coherent organization in the production of horticultural products, which, if realized, will solve the problems.
He added: These organizations must be formed by producers and the private sector in order to move forward to advance the goals of the sector.
