Leila Bazarkar said: This year, 11,000 tons of peanuts were produced in Gilan peanut orchards, which has increased by 5% compared to last year.

He added: feeding the orchards and increasing the yield of the orchards by using better cultivars have been the reasons for increasing the production of this product in the province.

Bazarkar stated that the highest area of ??peanut orchards in Gilan and even in the country is on the threshold of Ashrafieh, noting: After Astana, the cities of Rasht and Soomehsara have the most peanut orchards in Gilan.

He specified: Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization has a plan to increase the production of peanuts by raising the yield level per hectare.

Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization Deputy for Plant Production Improvement said: Renovation of old orchards and planting new cultivars are among the factors that lead to increased production of peanut orchards in Gilan.

He added: Currently, 5,500 kilograms of peanuts are harvested per hectare of almond orchards, while new and fungal disease-resistant cultivars will be able to produce 8,000 kilograms more cocoons per hectare.

Bazarkar said: Two successful Astana almond growers have been sent to Turkey to visit the country’s orchards and identify the best cultivars to introduce to Astana almond growers.
