Allocating 400 hectares of Astara lands to hazelnut cultivation
The director of agricultural jihad in the border city of Astara port announced the allocation of 400 hectares of Astara lands for hazelnut cultivation.
Iraj Shiarkar pointed out: Hazelnut cultivation in the city lands is carried out in two ways: rainfed and irrigated.
He added: For the past few years, irrigated cultivation has been successfully started by 23 farmers in 10 hectares of land, and we hope that with the support of other farmers, more land will be allocated for the cultivation of this crop.
Shiarkar stated: Most of the cultivated lands of the city are in the upstream areas of Heeran, Aq Masjid, Hazelnut, Peshtar, Chamler and Degirmankashi.
He continued: the harvest of this crop will start from the middle of September and it is predicted that more than 400 tons of hazelnuts will be collected from the orchards of the region.
The director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Astara stated: the price of each kilo of raw hazelnuts in the city market is 30 to 35 thousand Rials.
In the end, he stated: Due to the quality of hazelnuts produced in Astara, this product is widely offered in the regional market to buyers from neighboring provinces.
