The director of horticulture affairs of Guilan Agricultural Jihad said: 85% of Iran’s hazelnuts are harvested from 17,000 hectares of Guilan hazelnut orchards.

Almasi said that the hazelnut harvest in Gilan, the most important production center of this product in Iran, had ended. They earned 700 billion rials.

He added: The purchase price of each kilo of hazelnuts from the gardener is 50,000 Rials. 85% of Iran’s hazelnuts are harvested from 17,000 hectares of Gilan hazelnut orchards.

Almasi pointed out: Rudsar city is the center of hazelnut production in the country and then Amlash, Siahkal, Talesh, Rudbar and Astara cities are the most important hazelnut production areas in Gilan and Iran.

According to ISNA, the shortage of processing industries is the most important problem of hazelnut production in Gilan and most of the hazelnuts produced in Gilan are consumed in the form of nuts, while more than 100 types of food and cosmetics are produced from hazelnut products in developed countries.
