Commencement of the Ardabil Hazelnut Genetic Identification Project
The implementation of the genetic identification project of native hazelnuts in Ardabil province began.
Ramz Nasiri Saleh, head of Ardabil Jihad-e-Daneshgahi, announced the beginning of the research project Genetic identification of native hazelnuts in Ardabil province using morphological traits, molecular markers and the amount of chemical compounds and said: 33 hazelnut genotypes were identified in different parts of Hazelnut forest and labeled for further studies.
He specified: Jihad-e-Daneshgahi of Ardabil province, by carrying out this project, will be able to introduce high-yielding cultivars and resistant to pests and unfavorable climatic conditions for the development of hazelnut orchards in the province, while introducing the existing genotypes in the hazelnut forest.
Nasiri Saleh pointed out: Jihad-e-Daneshgahi, in line with its mission of entering the gaps in the country and meeting the existing needs of society, has entered the field of hazelnut studies and tries with the cooperation and participation of other executive bodies of the province and the assistance of high-ranking executive officials and provincial representatives. In the Islamic Consultative Assembly, take a step towards organizing hazelnut research.
Referring to the selection of Jihad-e-Daneshgahi in Ardabil province as the custodian of organizing the province’s hazelnut research, he said: This unit, as the director of the province’s hazelnut research project, planned to hold four meetings in the winter of last year with representatives from Ardabil province. , Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization, General Department of Environmental Protection, Jihad-e-Daneshgahi of Ardabil Province, General Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management, Mohaghegh Ardabili University and Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station.
